The King of Scary. Mixed media on wood block, approx 3" x 4 1/2". Worked all day on new approaches to acrylic. Finally listened to Fiege's advice to "just play" and went at a board with a charcoal pencil, spray fixative, acrylic paint, and my fingers. A friend of the family gave me some old World War II ration coupon books, and one of them was falling apart. It seemed right to stick some of the coupons on.

The Prophesy. Acrylic, 12" x 4", private collection. Finished I'm thinking, only going to wait for a few days before the varnish coat, as it may need some work. It doesn't look all that different from the previous post, but the bird and the littlest guy got painted, along with many glaze strokes and drybrushed areas.

Acrylic on canvas,12" x 4". The larger painting is progressing pretty well. Don't have a specific look in mind for the finish, just assume it will unfold as I go. Hope to post the finished pic soon.
A couple of tiny thinking sketches that eventually turned into a larger painting. Had no idea what I was working at--just was drawing and these came out and seemed worth exploring. Micron pen and prismacolor, each approx. 3" x 1".

Hard to tell at first glance, but these are two different birds from the same molds, carved and textured in different ways. The first one's drying, the second (my test run) is finished and glaze fired. A two part mold is a simple process, but I'm still working out some problems.
