Inktober Landscapes

http://tomsarmo.com/
I very much like landscapes. Someday hope to visit Europe--not just in this lifetime, but also in the next--when I'm hoping time means nothing, and that accessing 18th and 19th century views will be easier (and much more interesting) than strumming a harp on a cloud.

I also like buildings, preferably very old ones. These three sketches were done for Jake Parker's Inktober Initiative http://mrjakeparker.com/inktober They are all tiny--approximately 2.5" x 2.5", and were lots of fun to draw. I used ballpoint pen and micron pen, with watercolor and white ink added.

I like to mess about with black outlines, experimental perspective, and especially, proportion. A fellow recently complimented my works by saying that they "have a timeless quality, as if they came out of the pages of a fairy tale or legend." If that is true, it makes me one happy person.

Thanks for reading!

  1. Your timeless landscapes & architectural environments create wonderful little worlds to explore! It's funny, I rarely draw either, despite a deep interest in clouds, trees & just this sort of architecture. This is an inspiring challenge!

    1. Thank you, Curious Art. What you paint always amazes me, and I will love seeing the magic should you decide to go for some landscapes!

  2. Love these kinds of buildings ~ real and in your art ~! The German Expressionist sets with their "Dutch angles" and all ~ any kind of older building is usually worth checking out with appreciation ~ here's to a lot more celestial time for exploring through various eras and spaces, and maybe some Earth time too . . . Cheers ~!
