A couple ogres

Slopping Coffee.
Acrylic on canvas,
6" x 6", private collection.

Ogre pics-the pen and ink one came first, drawn for the Sketchbook Project (hence the coffee and the cigarette). The painting came later. They both came from a little pencil sketch I found in one of my old sketchbooks from the 1990s, and reinvented. Liking painting on the deep canvases, but struggle more than I expected with continuing the painting onto all sides.

GreenGuy and Bird, Moon visits Bird, SquashMan

Both in private collections.

Playing with color, working on small canvases, and allowing the image to wrap around. These pics have been sliding around inside my head off and on for the past week, and I just needed a simple approach to get them out of there and onto a surface.

Evil Fish Floats Over the Black Waters

Evil Fish Floats Over the Black Waters. Mixed media on wood. Private collection. Saw some cool wooden waves for a stage set in the movie, Baron Munchausen, that were moved back and forth by stagehands.  What a great effect!

Three Works on Wood

Each in private collections. Three works inspired by a great artist, Kevin Beehner, who posted some of his remarkable works on wood panels. The process was one I couldn't resist trying out. I don't know what Kevin uses, but I used acrylic paint and micron pens, and some charcoal. I love the penwork of W. Heath Robinson and the comic characters of Lyonel Feininger. Some of their influence is here as well.
